20General Information
- Academic Advising
- One of the program faculty will serve as your
academic advisor. You will meet with your advisor
at least once a semester to review you program
status and plan the next semester's schedule. If
you must work while attending MATC, your advisor
can try to help you create a reduced load
academic plan within the limits of class
availability. - You should contact your advisor if you have
issues with other courses or instructors or if
you need other MATC resources such as tutoring or
counseling. - Dropping a class without talking to your advisor
may cause scheduling problems later if the
dropped class is a prerequisite for others (or,
worse, a corequisite for a concurrent class).
Your advisor may be able to get you additional
help with the class or suggest dropping a
different one if time is the issue. -
- Graduation Requirement
- Prerequisite courses require a grade of C or
better. - Minimum 2.0 (C) program (607 classes) grade point
average. - Minimum 2.0 (C) overall grade point average.
21General Information
Rights and Responsibilities Each student should
be familiar with their overall rights and
responsibilities. These are available at your
Inside MATC page on the Your Rights/Responsibiliti
es panel. Please read through this
information. Personal Responsibility Effective
education is not a passive activity. To derive
the greatest benefit requires that you attend
classes, participate in activities, and complete
assignments by the stated deadlines. Engineering
is very computation- and technology-dependent and
it is easy to fall behind in classes if you're
not organized. MATC offers a number of resources
to assist you tutoring, the Writing Center, and
workshops ranging from study skills, note taking,
to money management, dealing with stress, etc.
Take advantage of these. Most are free or nominal
cost. Ultimately, you are the one most
responsible for your own education. Be realistic
you are expected to do study and do assignments
outside class time so don't think you will be
able to work 30 hours a week and carry 18
credits. Documented Disability If you have a

received information on additional resources
