• Give every student a chance to learn how to play
  chess
• Teach students the thinking skills needed for
  chess
• Develop knowledge of basic chess strategy
• Develop a Chess Team that competes in tournaments

Who can be in the Chess Club?

• Must have 90 or above in Conduct
• Cannot be failing any subject
• Must follow the rules of the Chess Club
• Must be able to attend the meetings

Chess Club Rules

• Sign in First come, first served
• You must be very, very quiet
• No helping players in other games
• Good sportsmanship is a must!
• Shake hands before and after every match
• All disputes are settled by the coach, a mentor
  or a judge and are final
• No cheating!

• Club members who earn the most points on Think
  Like a King Software
• Club members who are already have USCF membership
• Anyone who is really interested enough to put in
  the time needed

What is Chess?

• Chess is a strategy game
• Two Players
• Played on a board with 64 squares, (8x8)
• Each player has 16 pieces
• Players take turns moving pieces

How do you win?

• By putting your opponent in checkmate
• Checkmate means his king cannot escape your
  attack
• By moving his king
• By blocking the attacker
• By killing the attacker
• A player cannot put himself into check or
  checkmate

Can the game end in a tie?

• Yes, a draw or a stalemate is a tie
• Stalemate the king cannot move without putting
  himself in check
