Increasing Bus Stop Safety

• There was no present safety system in use.
• Creating a less than ample safety situation.
• Health and Legal social issues.

• This made this an ideal product to develop.
• Surveys were used to solidify there was a
  problem.
• Giancarlo Alvarado, a fellow student was
  found,along with other students and people that
  shared the problem.
• He became my end-user.

Criterion H

• One way was to use window motion sensors to
  detect the bus as it moves by.
• Another way considered was using weight sensors
  as the bus approached.
• The best solution was the window sensors because
  of cost effectiveness.

• Three detectors
• Onto building or pole
• Strip on bus
• Sound emits
• Webcam hears sound
• Via Skype sends that to the stop

I Continued

• I started with basic window motion detectors.
• I used this design as my alpha product.

• The product needed more, for beta I added a
  laptop, with web cam, that would be on the bus
  and send notification to the stop via Skype.

• For the Final product I altered sound levels
  using a tape covering over each speaker.

• My product successfully was able to improve the
  present health problems.
• I think with funding this could be broad scale
  and extremely helpful nationally, and it has lots
  of room for improvement to the overall design.

• And it was also a great success to my testers.

Future Implications

• I believe that my product with funding could
  become a key to enhanced safety in urban
  environments. There is a ton of potential for
  this to become a great element of safety
  everywhere.
