2What is adaptation?
- Different types of ways an animal can adapt.
Animals adapt by changing their physical
appearance or changing their behavior. Adaptation
is very important for an animals survival.
3Blue Whale
- Biggest whale, is toothless, and blue and gray
- Live in all oceans
- In summer it goes to polar seas and in winter it
goes to warmer waters - Nose holes are on the top of their head
4Hammerhead Shark
- Wide thick head with the eyes at the margins. It
is gray brown above with a white belly. - It lives in tropical waters, over the continental
shelf. - Hammerhead shark migrates seasonally to cooler
waters - 400 million years ago sharks had double-pointed
teeth. Teeth are triangular and pointed to attack
their prey.
5Dolphin
- Has beak, fins, blowhole and a tail. Its gray
- Mostly cold water. Sometimes warm water
- Blowhole on neck. Fin in the back
- It eats fish, squid and swallows its food hole.
6Orca
- Black and white, long dorsal fin, long tail
- Mostly cold water
- Has nose on its head
- Live in groups called pods to protect from
threats.
