15New in Cube Base e-mail Model Status
Demonstration of Cube 5
- When running from Voyager, ask for an email to be
sent when model run is completed along with - status of the run
- any user-defined outputs
- Can also send a text message to phone in a
similar fashion
16New in Cube Base External Program Wizard
Demonstration of Cube 5
- Enables users to more easily add external
programs to the Cube Base program menu - Works with All Types of Programs
17New in Cube Base Multiple Model Appliers
Demonstration of Cube 5
- Built to Work with Multi-User Web-based
Environments - Allows to set available keys (parameters, file
options, etc) for several model user types along
with separate passwords
18Cube Land
Key technologies in the Labs
- Innovation in land use pricingvia
auction/bidding theory - Econometric-based model
- Integrates Cube Voyagers transport accessibility
measures and ESRIs spatial mapping/analysis
capabilities - Works directly with zone-based land use
information - Forecasts land rent/prices to better evaluate
development pressures
19Major New Features of Cube Voyager
New Features of Cube Voyager
- Cube Voyager
- Geodatabase Read/Write
- PT select link
- PT mustusemode and bestpathonly for FTA New
Starts Analysis - Two extensions
- Cube Avenue extension to Cube Voyager providing
mesoscopic dynamic traffic assignment - Cube Cluster extension to Cube Base bringing
distributed processing to Cube
20PT User Benefits Analysis Features
New Features of Cube Voyager
- BESTPATHONLY
- Selects only path with least cost from enumerated
routes - Can be any mode
- MUSTUSEMODE
- Selects mode combinations from enumerated routes
- Can use a single mode, group of single modes or
mode combination to evaluate - Alternative methods available for headway
calculation - New controls for route enumeration and evaluation
processes
21Extension to Cube Voyager -- Cube Avenue
New Features of Cube Voyager
- Mesoscopic assignment (dynamic traffic
assignment) -
- representing vehicles as discrete packets or
individual vehicles - assigning a specific time of departure
- routing the vehicles along multiple paths in
response to dynamic traffic conditions - representing queues and bottlenecks including
blocking back - providing the ability to represent intersection
geometrics and traffic control systems in detail. - Region-wide, corridor-level
- Evacuation modeling, greater analysis of
geometrics, traffic control and ITS strategies
22Extension for Cube Voyager -- Cube Cluster
New Features of Cube Voyager
- Brings very large time reductions in model runs
- Provides 2 types of savings
- Multi take a three time period run and run the
mode choice models on three PCs simultaneously - Intra run one mode choice model over multiple
PCs. - Time savings can be substantial
- Take a 10 hour run model and put across 10 pcs.
Reduced to 1 hour and 10 minutes - Architecture 1 desktop license plus multiple,
low cost node licenses

New Features of Cube Voyager
24Key Technologies in the Labs
25New traffic assignment methods
- Most packages use link-based Frank-Wolf
- requires less memory and relatively easy to
implement - but may experience low convergence speed at the
vicinity of the equilibrium solution. - New methods
-
- Conjugate and Bi-Conjugate Frank Wolf
Path-based - more complex and need much more memory
- but converges faster to higher accuracy levels.
- Gradient Projection Algorithm
- Origin Based should be more accurate
- Higher speeds than path based methods.
- Limitation of not being able to efficiently
handle networks with turn penalties/prohibitions. - .
26New traffic assignment methods
27New traffic assignment methods
- We are actively working with our customers,
David Boyce, and other researchers to explore and
test the OBA, Algorithm B, and TAPAS
methodologies. - Stochastic Methods although a popular
alternative methodology in uncongested networks
for customers using TRIPS and Tranplan, a new
stochastic methodology is being built for Voyager
5.1. - Route Choice As an advance from the basic
stochastic methods, we are building discrete
route choice algorithms giving users the freedom
of using any variables in their custom utility
functions.
