READING ROOMS
  • A reading room is a place where the children have
    interactive sessions
  • They are thought English, health and hygiene,
arts and crafts and fun games.
  • The students are not provided with any extra
curricular activities and sports equipment by the
government which has led to an increase in the
number of school drop outs and hence giving way
    to child labour.
  • The Reading rooms has helped spark interest in
the children to come to school regularly and made
them aware of the huge horizon of possibilities
as the UG participants are from different
    countries.
  • We have helped continue helping the students
realize their passions and full potential.

Healthy body - Healthy mind (First Aid)
  • 70 of the Indian population live in villages and
are situated in remote areas which dont have
immediate access to hospitals and health care
centers. The majority of the villagers are
uneducated and superstitious .They dont know
basic first aid and therefore many injuries like
Fractures, cuts and wounds are left unattended
and get infected severely and leads to
    amputation of limbs.
  • The hospitals are usually an average of 30 50
Kms away in the time it takes to reach the
hospital the injuries worsen and become fatal,
which advances the decline of the mortality rate
    in the rural areas.
  • Therefore, we will conduct first aid workshops in
secondary government schools and teach basic
first aid to the older students and teachers.
  • The introduction to this project was done by
demonstrating how to deal with minor and major
injuries in the form of skits.
  • We will install a first aid box in schools. We
will also given the students the option of a paid
    certified course in first aid.

8
Building Toilets in Government Schools
  • The toilets in many of the government schools
identified by us are in pathetic conditions and
few in number. The student are supposed to
either urinate outside or wait until they go
    home.
  • We will build toilets in the Government school On
    outskirts of Bangalore.
  • They will be built in a way that it is easy to
    maintain.
  • Separate stalls are installed for girls and boys.
