    eject patrons at table seating
  • Childrens programs draw large audiences 50
  • Teen area too small, lacks seating and identity,

Recommended Option A Renovation and Expansion at
Existing Site Expand the facility at the current
site. Renovate and expand the current facility.
Expansion options include either a two-addition
to the current facility that could incorporate
two of the exisitng wings of the building and the
courtyard or demolish the current facility and
build a new two-story facility. Expansion at
this site would require additional parking that
could be provided with either underground parking
or a split-level parking design.

  • SOUTH NOVATO LIBRARY
  • Public space is attractive, welcoming,
self-explanatory, efficient -- but too small
  • Too few seats
  • for adults, parents, teens
  • laptop users forced into childrens space
  • need more lounge and table seats
  • Acoustical conflicts between childrens and adult
    spaces

    tutoring
  • Shelving capacity low - collection cannot grow to
    meet community needs
  • Adjacency conflicts - new books and computers
  • 11 computers are well used, but could use more
  • Staff work room needs acoustical buffering
