• Although Jem is rough and energetic, he does have
  a caring side.

• Jem is also sensitive to Aunt Alexandra and her
  desire for Scout to become a lady.

• Jem is protective of his sister, showing his
  maturity and responsibility.
• Run, Scout! Run! Run! Jem screamed(261).
• Jem protects not only his sister, but he also
  wants to protect the fragile and harmless.
• He was certainly never cruel to animals, but I
  had never know his charity to embrace the insect
  world(238).

• Jem has a great respect for his father.

• Jem has immense respect for Mrs. Dubose.
• Jems chin would come up, and he would gaze at
  Mrs. Dubose with a face devoid of
  resentment(110).
