Problem

• Smoking!!!
• Smoking triples the risk of dying from heart
  disease
• Each year about 400,000 Americans die from
  cigarette smoking
• Between 1960 and 1990, deaths from lung cancer
  have increased by 400
• Each year, smoking robs more than 5 million years
  from the potential life span of those who have
  died1

Users

• Aimed at older smokers but any smoker wanting to
  quit can use it!!
• Older users are at greater risk due to prolonged
  smoking
• Less likely to believe smoking harms their health
• Smoking can also lead to other diseases like
  Alzheimers
• In 2005, 18.7 million Americans over 45 smoked
  and 9 percent of Americans over 65 smoked2

Quitter-Club

• Extremely easy to use for the older population
• Three basic tasks create an account and fill
  out the initial details, weekly meetings and
  provide some feedback
• Task 1 is required only for a new user in his/her
  initial week
• Remaining weeks consist of only tasks 2 and 3

• Task 1 requires the user to select how many weeks
  he/she would like to use the system for
• Minimum value of 1 and maximum value of 8
• Max could be increased to a higher value but 8
  was perfect considering the time constraints

• 3 basic steps in the weekly meeting
• First Textual information on effects of smoking
• Second Video clip on effects of smoking
• Third Tip of the week

• Provide some feedback
• This could be used to change the following weeks
  content may be increase it?
• Set up a time for next weeks meeting
