Win.ini

• Win.ini Microsoft windows directory
• Used to load various settings screen savers,
  languages, comm. Drivers, etc.
• Windows will not load properly if this file is
  corrupt.

System.ini

• Initializes system settings for computer.
• -i.e. fonts, keyboards, languages, and other
  settings.
• Located in the windows directory.

Msconfig

• Microsoft utility found in Win98, ME, XP.
• Basically, allows users to choose what
  programs/services will automatically load each
  time the computer starts.
• Attain Msconfig by
• 1- Click start and run.
• 2-Type misconfig and press enter.

How to use Msconfig

• Microsoft systems configuration utility
  (MSCONFIG).
• Used to help, troubleshoot problems.
• Used with operating systems Win98, 98SE, ME,
  XP.
• Msconfig allows the computer to boot faster with
  less crashing.

How to Msconfig (cont.)

• Used to disable unnecessary programs upon
  starting.
• 1. Go to Start Run

• 2. Type MSCONFIG

• 3. This launches Microsoft's System Configuration
  Utility. Click on the Startup tab (the tab at the
  far right).
• 4. This takes you to a page with a list of
  "startup items."
• 5. Click ok! And you are done.
