What is the NWEA Math Test?

• It is a test you take using a computer.
• It will help us know how to help you and what you
  should be working on to improve the most.

How does the test work?

• Test questions will be shown on the computer
  screen.
• You will select an answer using the mouse or the
  keyboard.

How long is the test?

• The test has 52 questions.
• It should take most of you less than one hour to
  finish.
• Some of you may take longer-there is no time
  limit.

Is the test hard?

• Some questions will be easy and some will be
  hard.
• We cannot help you answer questions.
• If you cant pronounce a word, raise your hand
  quietly.

To take the test

• Use your best test-taking strategies
• Draw a picture
• Write down the math equation
• Find the wrong answers
• Make a best-guess

Test questions

• You are not expected to know the answer to every
  question.
• But, you must answer every question you cannot
  skip any.
• You cannot go back to a previous question.

How should I answer the questions?

• Read the directions first.
• Read the problem next.
• Read ALL the answer choices.

Click on the best answer. You can change the
answer if you like before you go on.

Once you have chosen your answer, press the
return key on the keyboard. You may also click on
the Go on button at the bottom of the screen if
you have one. Some of you wont.

This is another sample math question.

Notice the calculator at the bottom. It will
appear for some items. You will use it just like
a regular calculator, only you click on the
buttons with your mouse instead of pressing them
with your finger.

Once you have chosen your answer, press the
return key on the keyboard.

• In one minute we will go around the corner into
  tech camp.
• We will tell you where to sit.

The first screen you see will look like this.
Do not press start until told to.
