9Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
- First and second academic years of a two or four
year degree program - Completion of rigorous high school program of
study - GPA at least 3.0 as of the end of the first year
- Student Receives
- 1st academic year - 750

- Rigorous High School Program (NYS)
- Graduate from high school with an Advanced or
Honors Diploma (regents with honors) - Minimum of two AP or IB courses with scores of 3

- 3 years of math (Algebra I and higher)
- 3 years of science (2 must be biology, chemistry
or - physics)

degree program - Student must be in SMART Grant designated major

12NYS Math Science Teaching Incentive Program
- Provides awards to students attending school at
the undergraduate or graduate level in exchange
for five years of full-time employment as
secondary math and science teachers. - To be eligible
- Must have completed at least one term of
collegiate full-time study - Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Be matriculated in an approved undergraduate or
graduate program - at a degree-granting institution in New York
State leading to a career as a math or science
teacher in secondary education - GPA of at least 2.5
- Not have a service obligation under another
program - Not be in default on a student loan

13NSF Scholarships in Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM)
- Emphasizes the importance of recruiting students
to science and engineering disciplines through
degree completion, and partnering with employers
to facilitate student career placement in the
STEM workplace. - May be for up to five years and may provide
individual scholarships of up to 10,000 per
year, depending on financial need.

14NSF Scholarships in Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM)
- Requirements
- Must demonstrate academic talent and financial
need - Must be a US citizen, permanent resident,
national or refugee. - Enrolled as a full-time student in the following
disciplines - biological sciences (except medicine and other
clinical fields) - physical sciences, including physics, chemistry,
astronomy, and materials science - mathematical sciences
- computer and information sciences
- geosciences
- engineering
- technology areas associated with the preceding
fields (for example, biotechnology, chemical
technology, engineering technology, information
technology, etc.)

16Undocumented Students
- Certain nonresident students, including
out-of-status students, and students who are
undocumented students, are eligible for the
resident tuition rate if they fall into one of
the following categories - They attended for at least two years and
graduated from an approved New York State high
school and applied for attendance at a SUNY
state-operated or community college within five
years of receiving a New York State high school
diploma - They attended an approved New York State program
for General Equivalency Diploma preparation,
received a General Equivalency Diploma issued
within New York State, and applied for
attendance at a SUNY state-operated or community
college within five years of receiving the GED - Must submit to the campus a notarized affidavit
stating that the student has filed with INS an
application to legalize their immigration status
or will file such application as soon as they are
eligible to do so.

17Ability to Benefit
- Students who do not have a certificate of
graduation from a recognized school within the
United States providing secondary education (a
high school diploma or recognized equivalent),
must attain a passing score on a federally
approved ability to benefit (ATB) test that has
been independently administered and evaluated as
defined by the Commissioner of the State
Education Department to receive New York State
funded grants or scholarships including Tuition
Assistance Program (TAP) awards. - This could provide an avenue for students who
dont graduate, drop-out or have problems that
prevent them from graduating.
