Whats New for 2009?
  • Three Grant Options
  • New grant submitted by a teacher or team
  • Renewal of a grant submitted by a teacher or team
  • Fast Track grant submitted based on a successful
    grant with shorter application
  • Grant form available online only
  • Principal approval via email attachment
  • Submissions to Foundation via email attachment

Eligibility
  • Individuals or Teams who are Employed by the Cape
    Girardeau Public School District, and involved in
    the instruction of preK-12 CGPS district students
  • Instructional approaches or projects designed to
    begin during 2009, and to be completed no later
    than June 2010,
  • and which meet the selection criteria.

Selection Criteria
  • Proposal addresses district or building
    curriculum objectives
  • Proposal represents a creative or innovative
    approach to teaching, not simply a request for
    materials or equipment
  • Proposal is clearly written aligns with
    Foundation goals
  • Clear description of purpose
  • Clear description of specific district or
    building objectives their relationship to your
    goals and instructional activities
  • Clear description of innovative instruction
  • Clear description of how learning will be
    evaluated
  • Clear budget listing items and prices

Grant Recipient Responsibilities
  • Use the awards for the purposes intended
  • Prepare a brief final report
  • for sharing with other teachers and for inclusion
    in the CGPS Foundation's Annual Report
  • Agree to share successful procedures in staff
    development sessions.
  • Meet with the CGPS Foundation Director and the
    other grant recipients soon after grants are
    awarded
  • Follow budget and purchasing rules
  • Return any unused funds to the Foundation
  • Treat items purchased as belonging to your
    current school (or the school district).

Application Steps
  • (Fast-Track) Applicant fills out form and emails
    attachment to original grant writing teacher
  • (Fast-Track) Original grant writing teacher
    checks box, enters name and date, and emails
    attachment final report back to applicant
  • Applicant emails attachment to Principal
  • Principal checks box, enters name and date, and
    emails attachment to Exec Director
  • Exec Director sends attachment to Asst Super for
    comment, then returns attachment to Exec Director
  • Exec Director gives app and removes identifying
    info and sends attachment to Grant Committee
  • Grant Committee Chair returns attachment with
    approval or disapproval and revisions/comments to
    Exec Director
  • Exec Director forwards attachment back to
    applicant with parameters.

Timeline
  • March 16, 2009
  • All grant applications due via email to CGPS
    Foundation by midnight
  • March 20-29, 2009
  • Grants committee evaluates proposals
  • March 30 April 8, 2009
  • Applicants will be notified via Prize Patrol
  • April 20, 2009
  • A report on the grants awarded will be presented
    to the School Board
  • May 21, 2009
  • All grant recipients meet with Director
  • May 31, 2010
  • All grant recipients submit a Final Report to the
    Director
