Motivation

• Asynchronous circuits lets make an impact!
• BALSA is one of the most successful AC design
  frameworks
• Direct mapping cannot compete with synchronous
  designs in terms of area and performance, as it
  doesnt exploit the power of Boolean optimisation
• Control path re-synthesis a promising approach
  can halve the area of control path and improve
  its latency

Challenges

• Clustering easy, but needs to be done clever
  heuristics are possible
• Parallel composition easy, done clever
  heuristics are possible
• Synthesis of clusters difficult, but there has
  been significant progress in the last years
• All the nuts and bolts for re-synthesis are
  either in place or easy, so need a
  collaboration to make a concentrated effort and
  deliver a working system!
