• School enrollment continues to drop but
  population remains steady. 840 students in 1999,
  today 670.

LCN Hires New Plant CEO

• New CEO tells Mayor and City Council that the
  Princeton plant can not operate efficiently as
  other plants.

Fiber Network Get the OK

• Completed 12 mile 96 fiber count backhaul and
  several 12 fiber count drops taken to key
  customers sites. Fiber is owned by the city.

Would the City Be the Provider

• The City chose not to be the ISP and therefore
  decided to send RFP out to partner with the
  successful bidder.

Public/private Partnership

• City of Princeton and Connecting Point establish
  a partnership, select BPL as the last mile
  technology. Establish a revenue sharing.

• Fiber broadband services, speeds starting off
  with several t-1 lines and easy to ramp the speed
  up, network systems, VoIP, security systems,
  energy management system.

Why BPL/PLC

• Minimal capital expense to the utility,
  connections possible to all customers, fast and
  easy to install, reliable internet access, speeds
  in excess of 5.0 mbps for G-2

• Alarming for power outages notifications, VoIP,
  security and video.

• AMR, hotspots, traffic controls, potential system
  flaws that go unseen, security systems, energy
  management systems, switching to provide
  reliability and VoIP.

  to power outages.

What Has Happen to Date?

• Received EDA Grant for 675,000.00, LCN has made
  an investment to the Princeton Plant exceeding 6
  million Dollars, we now have DSL, Cable Modems
  and BPL

What Has Happen to Date?

• Created a partnership with one business owner and
  U of Illinois, to establish a video conferencing
  center in Princeton.

Backhaul expands and BPL deployed to entire City

• Today we have over 22 miles of fiber and have all
  BPL equipment installed

Bureau County Republican

• Local paper announces Bureau County ranks fifth
  best rural county to live in the Midwest and 21st
  in the country. Source Progressive Farmer
  magazine. Princeton is the county seat.

Another new Partnership

• The City of Princeton and Tetra Research Form a
  partnership.

• The City and Connecting Point will be connecting
  our first residential customers with fiber soon.
