Spring Campout Camp MACOBA
This years Pack 8 spring campout will be at Camp
MACOBA. This is a two days campout. The pack is
charging 5 per person which includes Friday
night dinner, a craft and donation for staying at
the camp. Families are required to supply all
other meals. The scouts had a great time last
year with the woods, playground and the stream.
Every den is expected to put on s kit for the
pack camp fire. The pack is also looking at
performing a service project as our way of saying
thanks again for allowing us to use the Madison
Baptist Assoc. campgrounds. So get those tents
ready and be prepared to make some fun.

Summer Time Activities
A requirement for a Quality Unit Award is to
provide a year round program. As such, Pack 8
will host various activities during the summer,
even if your den is not meeting during the break.
Events to be announced at the next pack meeting
include the Bike Rodeo, trip to Southern
Adventures, and the pack swim party. Scouts
attending three scouting activities during the
summer will be eligible for a summertime
activities pin in the fall.

Cub Scout Resident Camp
Cheeburger Night for Pack 8
The night of April 26th with be Pack 8 Night at
Cheeburger-Cheeburger at Providence. The Pack
will receive 10 of all profits from that night.
This is a great opportunity for the pack to raise
extra funds. It is also a good excuse to take
the family out for a tasty meal and a great
shake.
Cub Resident Camp is a great opportunity for
scouts to spend a few days camping and complete
rank requirements/activity badges and earn belt
loops. There will be two sessions at Camp
Sequoyah this year July 8th-10th and July
11th-13th. The cost will be 85.00 per Scout and
45.00 per adult. At least one adult is required
for every four scouts. In the past, an adult fee
was waived for every four scouts attending.
Additional information will be sent soon.
Other News
- BALOO training will be offered May 19th. Every
WEB den must have a BALOO trained adult. This
camping class is one of the best. - We had 60 people work the landscaping/clean up
at MES in Feb. - Lora Keiser did a Great job on the Belt Loop
Jamboree. We had 51 scouts (Tiger to Web 1) out
of 73, or 70, to participate. - Those popcorn winners who missed out on throwing
a pie at their leader, including ACM OBrien,
will get another chance at the April Pack
meeting.
- Reminders
- Look at the open volunteer positions and see
how you can help! - The scouts normally graduate to their next rank
in May, so complete those awards! - Register for the Resident Camp or Day Camp if
you are interested.
Want to have fun learning and playing with scout
friends during the summer? Sign up now for Cub
Scout Day Camp! This is a great way to work on
your rank achievements and earn belt loops for
the next year! The camp runs June 18th through
22nd, 800 am-300 pm. There will also be a
closing ceremony 300-400pm on the 22nd. The
camp is held at Cahaba Shrine Park, on Pulaski
Pike. Unlike Resident Camp, boys that have
completed kindergarten and join Cub Scouts in May
can attend. For every six boys, an adult must
volunteer to help the camp. That volunteers son
will receive a 30 discount. Cost is 60.00 per
scout and goes up 10.00 after May 19th! See
flyer on the pack website Pack8isgreat.com

2Blue and Gold 2007
The Blue and Gold Banquet was chuck full of
festivities. Why, even ACM OBriens jokes
seemed funny. Okay, the first one about reading
in the teepee really stank, but they either got
better or the sugar from the desserts kicked
in. Speaking of desserts, the Fallas Bake-Off
is a long standing Pack 8 tradition. Every scout
that participated was a winner, as were the many
people who enjoyed the great desserts down to
the famed buffalo patty. However, special
recognition was made to the following cooks Most
Original - Matthew and Mark McGuigan Best Use of
Theme - Riley and Gary OBrien Best Tasting -
Spencer and Mark Barnes Biggest - Rogan, Corbin
and Shawn Sullivan Best Over All - Brandon,
Justin and Charles Martin And apologies to the
team that won Best Looking for I was unable to
determine who they were. Tom Beam will be
selling copies of the DVD shown at BG for sale
for 5 each. Finally, congratulations to the
many WEB IIs scouts that earned their Arrow of
Light. And so long, as your bridge to your
chosen Boy Scout Troop.
Every Wonder Why Your Son is Not in these
Pictures? The reason is not diabolical. It is
because the Newsletter Editor gets pictures from
the same people. If you want to see your scout
pictured in the newsletter, please send your
