Title: Doubt and self esteem
1Doubt and self - esteem
2After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve
disciples, he went on from there to teach and
preach in the towns of Galilee. When John heard
in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his
disciples to ask him, Are you the one who was to
come, or should we expect someone else? Matt.
c11 v1-3 (NIV)
3Its all right to come with honest questions
Jesus is not least bit afraid of honest doubters
4Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve,
was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So
the other disciples told him, We have seen the
Lord! But he said to them, Unless I see the
nail marks in his hands and put my finger where
the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I
will not believe it.
5A week later his disciples were in the house
again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors
were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and
said, Peace be with you! Then he said to
Thomas, Put your finger here see my hands.
Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop
doubting and believe.
6Thomas said to him, My Lord and my God! Then
Jesus told him, Because you have seen me, you
have believed blessed are those who have not
seen and yet have believed. John c20 v24-29 (NIV)
7Its all right to want some tangible evidence
God doesnt expect us to do anything blindly, but
does expect us to apply the same rules of
engagement
8There are answers to your questions
the key to overcoming doubt is a personal
encounter with the risen Lord
9You dont have to lack self-esteem
feeling we didnt fulfil our parents dream for us
/ being abused and thinking it was our fault /
failure in marriage / being sacked / not feeling
were good enough in Gods eyes
10You dont have to lack self-esteem
There are four things on earth that are
small, but they are very wise Ants are not
very strong, but they store up food in the
summer. Rock badgers are not very powerful, but
they can live among the rocks. Locusts have no
king, but they all go forward in formation.
11You dont have to lack self-esteem
2 Lizards can be caught in the hand, but they are
found even in kings palaces. Prov. c30 v24-28
(NLT)
12You dont have to lack self-esteem
2
Jesus came to bring life in all its fullness.
God created you as you not somebody else
God showcases His wisdom and greatness through
even smallest things
13You dont have to lack self-esteem
2
Whatever people think of us never doubt your
value in and too God
14The grace of God upon my life Is not dependant
upon me On what I have done Or deserved But a
gift of mercy from God Which has been given unto
me Because of His love His love for me
15It is unending, unfailing Unlimited,
unmerited The grace of God given unto me It is
unending, unfailing Unlimited, unmerited The
grace of God given unto me
