2
METHAMPHETAMINE
  • AKA Crank, crystal, meth, speed, Chrissy
  • A long-acting amphetamine often snorted, smoked,
    or injected
  • Frequent and protracted sexual encounters. Weight
loss, exhaustion, dehydration may be counteracted
with other drugs (cannabis, valium, alcohol)

3
METHAMPHETAMINE (2)
  • Sexual behavior, not needle sharing provides the
greater likelihood of HIV transmission among
    crystal users
  • Used to cope with the fear of transmitting HIV,
to free participants from the responsibility of
safer sex and/or the guilt associated with HIV
  • For some, crystal is a vehicle to cope with
    internalized homophobia-neutralizes negative
internal dynamics associated with gay sexuality

4
METHAMPHETAMINE (3)
  • Sex on crystal is reportedly more intense,
heightened, prolonged and uninhibited. May leave
the individual more susceptible to other STDs

5
METHAMPHETAMINE (4)
  • Elevates risk for HIV exposure and disease
    progression
  • Elevates risk for HCV exposure and disease
    progression
  • Cheaper and longer duration of effect
  • Psychoses
  • Interaction with PIs

6
METHAMPHETAMINE (5)
  • Increases both needle and sexual risk
  • Needle risk
  • More frequent injections
  • Ritualized injections
  • Registering, booty bumps and hot-railing

7
METHAMPHETAMINE (6)
  • Increases both needle and sexual risk (continued)
  • Sexual risk
  • Protracted encounters
  • STD acquisition
  • Viagra
  • Dehydration and anesthetizing
  • Sex addiction

8
ECSTASY
  • Classified as a hallucinogen or psychedelic,
greater likelihood of psychological than physical
    dependence

9
ECSTASY (2)
  • AKA MDMA, E, X, STC, Adam, Essence
  • Usually in pill form
  • The consumption of XTC is called X-ing
  • Cost of a single pill approximately 25.00

10
ECSTASY (3)
  • While high, the user may experience
  • A feeling of euphoria and well-being
  • Increased confidence
  • Feelings of trust with others
  • Increased heartbeat
  • Rise in body temperature, sweating, dehydration
  • Loss of appetite

11
ECSTASY (4)
  • The euphoric state is usually achieved within
    20-40 minutes after consumption
  • The effect typically lasts 3-4 hours

12
  • ECSTASY VIAGRA SEXTASY

13
SEXTASY
  • Mixing a vasoconstrictor with a vasodilator can
    have dangerous, sometimes fatal consequences
  • Combining Ecstasy with Viagra can leave the
individual with no way of knowing where the
    effects will occur
  • Side effects of this combination could include
heart attack or stroke....and the risks increase
    dramatically with age

14
KETAMINE
  • Classified as a "dissociative anesthetic"
  • Also known as K, Vitamin K, Kit-Kat, Ketalar,
Special K, Techno Smack, or CK1
  • K" was originally created for use as a human
    anesthetic
  • Still used as a general anesthetic for children
    and in veterinary medicine

15
KETAMINE (2)
  • Dissociative anesthetics are drugs that separate
    perception from sensation
  • Ketamine usually comes as a liquid in small
pharmaceutical bottles, and is most often cooked
into a white powder for snorting
  • Most people snort small lines or "bumps
  • At lower doses, "K" produces a mild dreamy
feeling that the user often describes as floaty
and as though they feel outside their bodies

16
KETAMINE (3)
  • Numbness in the extremities is also common
  • It has the ability to cause physical tissue
    dependence
  • Higher doses can produce hallucination (usually
visual) and is often experienced as a separation
    of mind from body

17
KETAMINE (4)
  • This experience is referred as a "K-hole" and is
often compared to an out-of-body or near-death
experience with the sensation of rising out of
    one's body
  • While in a K-hole, it is very difficult to move
as "K" can induce a state of virtual helplessness
and a pronounced lack of coordination
  • The user is detached from reality and often fully
    engaged in another reality

18
KETAMINE (5)
  • To avoid injury or death, never use alone, get a
"Ground Controller" to stay with the person the
    entire time
  • Use the drug in a safe, secure, familiar
    environment
  • "K-dens" are user-supported environments where
the drug can be used under the watchful
experienced eye of a sober user

19
KETAMINE (6)
  • If snorted, the effect comes on within 5 to 10
minutes and usually last 20 minutes to an hour
  • If swallowed, the effects come on in 10-20
    minutes and last several hours
  • One hundred milligrams is usually enough to enter
    a "K-hole
  • However, if liquid ketamine is injected into the
muscle, less is need to enter a "K-hole"

20
KETAMINE (7)
  • Ketamine is never injected into a vein
  • Many people experience nausea and vomiting after
    consuming ketamine.
  • It is therefore wise to avoid eating at least 3
    hours before you consume ketamine
  • It is particularly important that if the user
loses consciousness that he/she be positioned on
their side to avoid choking on vomit

21
KETAMINE (8)
  • Death is rare and typically is associated with
    injecting ketamine
  • Ketamine psychosis generally subsides after a few
    weeks
  • Individuals with psychiatric histories (personal
or family of origin) should avoid this drug

22
KETAMINE (9)
  • Short-term memory loss is common
  • Both physical and psychological tolerance can
    develop rapidly
  • The development of psychological dependence is
much more likely than the development of physical
    dependence
  • Because Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic,
the user often feels no pain while under the
    influence of the drug

23
KETAMINE (10)
  • There are anecdotal reports of using Ketamine
during fisting, because of the disconnection from
    pain sensation
  • Possession of Ketamine is illegal with
    prosecution possible

24
GHB(gamma hydroxybutyrate)
  • Classified as a sedative-hypnotic
  • Very sedating
  • If mixed with alcohol may lead to unconsciousness

25
GHB(gamma hydroxybutyrate)
  • Date Rape Drug
  • It is colorless, odorless, slightly salty tasting
liquid, but is also available in powder and
    capsule form
  • It is most often swallowed and can easily be
    slipped into a drink

26
GHB (2)(gamma hydroxybutyrate)
  • At lower doses, GHB has a euphoric effect similar
    to alcohol (relaxed, sociable, happy)
  • At higher doses, it may cause sedation, nausea
    and vomiting, muscle stiffness, confusion,
unconsciousness, and in some cases coma and
    respiratory collapse

27
GHB (3)(gamma hydroxybutyrate)
  • The synergistic effect with alcohol and/or other
depressants increases the risk for overdose,
    unconsciousness, and death

28
TEN SIGNS OF SEXUAL ADDICTION
  • Out of control behavior
  • Escalating frequency
  • Escalating dangerousness

29

sexual behavior to only certain types, with
    certain partners, etc.

31

  • Sexual obsession/fantasywhen things are
uncomfortable or problematic, this is the mental

physiological need (tolerance) and the desire to
achieve the same effect can only be reached with
increasing frequency, intensity, etc. of acts

32
TEN SIGNS OF SEXUAL ADDICTION (5)
  • Mood swingssex is used as a fix to alter "bad"
mood states but ultimately is bad itself due to
    the guilt/shame
  • Increased timepreoccupation with obtaining,

  • Neglectas disease progresses, so does the
    pervasiveness of the neglect
