2Introduction and Background
- The University for Peace (UPEACE) was created
within the framework of the United Nations,
pursuant to Resolution 35/55 of the General
Assembly - 1982 1999 programmes essentially for Central
and Latin American students - 1999 2005 Five-year revitalization programme

- Provide an international institution of higher
education for peace - Promote a spirit of understanding, tolerance
peaceful coexistence - Stimulate cooperation
