Columbus Day
  • Columbus is born in Genoa in 1451
  • By the age of 14, he takes to the sea.
  • 1485, Columbus moves to Spain, settling at Palos
    in Andalusia.

  • August 3, 1492 Departs from Palos, Spain (near
    Huelva)
  • Commanded three ships the Niña, the Pinta and
    the Santa Maria.
  • New world sighted on October 12, 1492 by Rodrigo
    de Triana, somewhere in the Bahamas.
