ASENT RBD Analysis - Introduction
ASENT provides a reliability modeling capability
at the circuit card or assembly level. The tool
is invoked from ASENTs Reliability Manager by
selecting the RBD Analysis tab. It then uses the
assemblies of the product tree as the basic
elements, or blocks of the model. This
presentation will cover important menu options
and other high-level information. For more
details refer to some of the tutorials to build
different models or click on the link below, and
select Reliability Modeling to access a 20 page
help file in PDF format. http//www.raytheoneagle.

3
Step 1 Build a Product Tree Structure
Invoke the Reliability Manager and build a
product tree structure for your project. For more
details, refer to the Failure Rate Prediction
tutorials.
4
Step 2 Calculate Failure Rates
Right-click on the top, system node and select
the Calculate Failure Rates option, and calculate
failure rates for the entire system. When it
completes verify that the icon next to the system
node is either a question mark or a check.
If the status icon is a - or an x then it
means that failure rates are missing or cannot be
calculated. Since the RBD Analysis will use these
failure rates, this should be corrected before
continuing on with the RBD Analysis.
5
Step 3 Select Type of Analysis
Two types of RBD analysis are available 1)
Mission Reliability, and 2) Mission Reliability
with Repair.
6
Step 4 RBD Analysis Utility Menu
From the RBD Analysis Utility menu, set mission
times, repair defaults, check models for
problems, or recalculate models.
7
Step 5 Selecting the RBD Analysis Tab
The default model is to model the blocks in
series. When you click on the RBD Analysis tab in
the Reliability Manager, it will display the
associated model for the item selected. Click on
the Edit option to change or refine the model.
8
Step 6 Editing and Refining the Model
Here, we display the reliability modeling
worksheet for our simple series model. We can
change or refine the model, as desired.

Conclusion
This concludes a brief introduction to the RBD
Analysis tool. For more details, please refer to
the other RBD Analysis tutorials for building
specific model types.
