Are Our Products Safe
  • All Glasswool and Rockwool products are
classified as non hazardous as per stated on our
    MSDS
  • A new agreement involving sensible housekeeping
  • has been reached with all major unions involved
    in
  • the building market

8
Fire Resistance
  • AS1530. Part 3.
  • Glasswool and Rockwool will not burn and can
actually hinder the spread of flame. When tested
to the above standard, Glasswool and Rockwool
achieve the best possible result of 0 when tested
    for
  • Ignitability (0 to 20)
  • Spread of flame (0 to 10)
  • Smoke developed (0 to 10)
  • Heat evolved (0 to 10)
  • Polyester, Sheepswool and Cellulose fibre do not
    achieve this rating.

Acoustic Wall System Facts
  • Acoustic performance in buildings is rated by
measuring a complete wall system Rw Ctr - to
determine the sound transmission loss in decibels
dB from one room to the next.
  • CSR across Gyprock, Bricks,Hebel and Bradford has
conducted 100s of laboratory and field tests on
wall systems including both polyester and
    glasswool insulation probably more acoustic
data than any other company in Australia.
  • Consistently these show glasswool to be superior
in acoustic performance to polyester by 1-3 dB ,
depending on type of wall or floor system
  • The most recent tests were conducted by Bradford
at the Rintoul acoustic test facility in Sydney.
  • A range of insulation products were compared in a
wall system with 13mm Fyrchek either side of a
separated 64mm steel stud wall at 600mm centres.
  • Once again they showed that glasswool performance
was approx 2 dB better than polyester.

15
Acoustic Wall Facts
  • In fact 50mm Glasswool performed as well as the
complete range of certain tested polyester
insulation substantial cost savings at the
    higher polyester thicknesses

16
Acoustic Performance Summary
  • Building designers therefore have more choice
    with glasswool vs polyester
  • THINNER WALLS AT SAME PERFORMANCE
  • OR
  • BETTER PERFORMANCE AT SAME THICKNESS
