Microsoft Live Meeting

Sharing information in Live Meeting
  • There are two ways to share documents in
    Microsoft Live Meeting
  • Desktop Application Sharing
  • Any application or document type can be opened on
the presenters computer can be displayed to the
    audience.
  • Upload document to Live Meeting
  • Documents are uploaded, automatically converted
to LMP format, and reside on the server for
faster display to participants, but must be in a
supported format (MS Office and others).

3
Desktop Application Sharing
  • The advantage to application sharing from the
students desktop is that any program can be
    simply and quickly displayed.
  • The disadvantage is slower display response times
for the other participants and display resolution
    conflicts.
  • Students with lower screen resolutions may not be
able to see the entire presentation.
  • NOTE Due to the delay and sizing issues, this
is not the recommended method. Uploading any
compatible documents to Live Meeting is
    preferable.

4
HOWTO Share Application
  • Click Share ? Share Application
  • Click Your Powerpoint
  • Click OK

(Application sharing is preferableover Desktop
sharing)
NOTE This will start sharing now with the class.
Only do this when it is your turn to present.
5
HOWTO Share Application/Exit
  • When Application Sharing is started, a toolbar
will be visible down the left side of the
    screen.
  • If using PowerPoint, present to class in
    Slideshow mode.
  • When finished, click back arrow button End
application sharing and return to console.

6
Live Meeting Documents
  • As stated previously, using Live Meeting
documents will give superior response time for
    all participants over application sharing.
  • The document is stored on the Live Meeting server
and sent out to everyone at the same time.
  • The presenter will see the screens about the same
    time as all participants.

7

  • Click upload button(Import a document into the
    meeting)

will not disrupt class.

Live Meeting, it is recommended to wait until
after class is finished to do so, unless maybe
    you uploaded the wrong file.
  • To delete
  • Highlight Document
  • Click X

NOTE Be careful not to delete other students
work.If you need a file back, you will have to
go through the upload conversion process again.
12
Final Notes
  • Large, high resolution images will take longer to
upload and display in Microsoft Live Meeting. Try
    to compress graphics.
  • Animations or complex slide transitions that look
great locally will mostly be lost across the
    network. Try to avoid motion.
  • Focus on content and presentation skills. A
slight pause and silence is better than
    constantly saying Ummmm.
