Who uses electricity in the UK?
In 2007 domestic use counted for 29 of our
countries energy use. 27 was used for public
buildings, agriculture and transport. This means
we can save energy in two different areas that
make up more than 56 of our countries energy use.

How is our electricity generated?
The fuels use to generate our electricity change
every year. In 2008 we used less Coal and
nuclear power and instead used more gas and
renewable energy.

How much renewable energy do we generate?

• Renewable energy generation in the UK is
  increasing.
• Wind energy is the biggest contributor to that
  growth.
• In 2007 19.664GWh were generated by renewables,
  5 of the UKs total usage.

How much energy do we use in the South of England?
In Hedge End we use between 4600 and 5400 kWh per
household on average per year. Southampton has
one of the lowest energy consumption statistics
within the south east region.
