    assessment of General Education learning
    outcomes, the analysis of data, and determine to
    what extent that graduates have attained the
    competencies.

  • Select 20 (10/10) General Education courses which
    include a number of the fifteen competencies in
    their Course Descriptions.
  • Choose courses that team members are teaching
  • Aim for the courses that have high enrollment
    (ENC 1101, for example)
  • Be inclusive select courses taught on all three
    main campuses

  • Ten General Education courses selected
  • ENC 1101, SPC 1608, LIT 2020, MUL 2010, PHI 2600,
    SYG 2000, CHM1040, BSC 1005L, MAC 1105, STA2023
  • 10 sections college wide Approximately 65
    sections
  • All campus representation
  • Different delivery systems (online, blended and
    face to face) traditional and Honors courses
    considered
  • Mostly FT faculty but some adjuncts were included
    when a FT was not available or able to
    participate

What is being used to assess SLOs?
  • Examples, not limited to
  • Embedded test items
  • A written assignment that is assessed using a
    common rubric
  • A speech which is assessed using a common rubric
    at different benchmarks during the course
  • A concert review with designated points for each
    requirement

Data collection and use
  • Results of the assessments will be delivered to
    the Team member for that course/discipline
  • All pilot sections are being stripped of
    identifying data (reference number, professor,
    campus, schedule)
  • Aggregate data will be uploaded to a data base
    which is yet to be decided-may be EXCEL- and
    results will be processed by IR and returned to
    Team Member
  • Observations and analysis will be carried out
    with professors involved in the pilots with
    forthcoming recommendations from the discipline
    faculty
  • Results will be shared College-wide
