Mount Hood
  • What is Mount Hood? Mount Hood is the tallest
    peak in all of Oregon. It is a volcano that is
    used for snow sports.
  • Where is Mount Hood? It is 60 miles from
    Portland surrounded by a vast forest.

  • In Oregon there are many cities. The biggest
    one is a city called Portland. The people of
    Portland named it The city of roses.

Crater Lake
  • Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United
    States. It was formed more than 6,500 years ago
    in the top of a volcano. The lake is known for
    its amazingly crystal-blue waters. Crater Lake
    National Park is open year round.

Silver Falls State Park
Silver Falls State Park is the largest state
park. It has hiking trails that go past ten
different waterfalls, many of which you can walk
behind.

Hells Canyon National Recreation Area
  • Hells Canyon is a terrific place for hikers,
    campers, rafters and boaters. The deepest river
    gorge in North America has some of the most
    spectacular scenery in the west. There are
    endless opportunities for fun outdoors.

  • The first people to go to Oregon in a wagon were
    Marcus and Narcissa Whitman. They made the trip
    in 1836. But the a lot of people did not start
    until 1843, when about a thousand pioneers made
    the journey west.

The Great Migration
  • The 1843 wagon train, dubbed "the great
    migration" kicked off the move west on the Oregon
    Trail. Over the next 25 years more than a half
    million people went west on the Trail. Some went
    all the way to Oregon's Willamette Valley in
    search of farmland.
