MARSHAM STREET, LONDON FOR

This 200, 000.00 project occurred over a period
of 12 weeks. The project involved the demolition
by controlled use of explosives of concrete bomb
shelters under the former Department of
Environment on Marsham Street in London. The
project involved the breaking up of 3 No. 60
Metre diameter reinforced concrete bomb shelters.
The concrete walls and roof to the shelters was
on average 3 Metres thick.
At various stages blasting took place within 15
Metres of occupied offices and residential
properties, with the general public passing
within 10 Metres of the site. Sensitive
telecommunications equipment were located under
the blasting area, with a major BT communications
chamber and gas mains also running in close
proximity. Over 10 tonnes of explosives were
utilised on the project, with no vibration
damage to any adjacent properties.
