Introduction

• The post-conflict environment in which
  disarmament, demobilization and reintegration
  (DDR) usually takes place is often characterised
  by insecurity and lawlessness, poor or
  malfunctioning economies and a lack of social
  services and cohesion
• Integrated DDR programmes shall be designed to
  address the particular characteristics and
  contexts of the country or region in which they
  are to be implemented
