Ron Smith Ron Smith is a life long entrepreneu
r. Mr. Smith is recognized industry wide for his
ingenuity in mobility product design and
implementation. Having developed and patented
two ramp systems which have influenced the
lowered floor mini-van segment of the market.
One being a single in floor ramp system and the
other a two-way ramp system which functions on
the General Motors product which allows the ramp
to deploy from either the passenger or driver
side sliding door. Mr. Smiths contribution to
Wheelers National and International recognition
has been due to his persistence with Wheelers
from the beginning. Mr. Smith owned and operated
Flagstaff EMS from 1977 to 1984 when he sold it
to the Flagstaff Medical Center. While operating
in Flagstaff he also opened Metrocare Ambulance
and Transport Company in Phoenix, AZ which he
sold in 1988 to Rural/Metro Fire Department and
American Ambulance Company. Mr. Smith has great
capabilities to organize and expand operations.
The Smiths ability to organize their rental fl
eet, establish procedures and market their
company while educating the population, as to
why a person using a wheelchair would even want
to rent an accessible vehicle. Obviously, anyone
using a wheelchair knew the reason, but
organizations, businesses and individuals who
had a loved one using a chair or scooter and
other entities didnt realize the magnitude of
which an accessible van rental company could do
to make their lives more independent and their
businesses more adapted to servicing their
clients.

Walter Melton Mr. Melton served as a Sergeant
in the United States Marine Corps until 1971.
For the next eleven years he was employed by the
State of Arizona in a variety of positions of
authority, with responsibility at different times
for the drafting of Arizona laws and regulations
concerning employment taxes, the training of tax
auditors, and the supervision of tax appeals.
He was Vice President and General Counsel of
Grand Canyon Financial Services Corporation, and
he has organized and served on the Board of
Directors of a number of non-profit institutions.
Additionally, Mr. Melton has served as a
consultant to a number of ambulance and
transportation companies, automobile dealerships,
financial institutions and other business
organizations. He first became active in our
operations during the formative stages thirteen
years ago, and he brings considerable expertise
in business management and planning to the
company. Mr. Melton has undergraduate degrees in
Liberal Arts and Production and Operations
Management, as well as a Masters degree in
Business Administration and a Doctorate in Law
from the University of Arizona.
