- Reading 0097 students were asked to research the
Tuskegee Airmen. - They were required to read the autobiography of
Lt. Colonel Charles Dryden, A-Train Memoirs of
a Tuskegee Airman.

- Reading students completed several assignments,
such as chapter summaries, oral reports, and
historical timelines. - As a reward for their work, students would have
special audience with Colonel Dryden during the
Symposium.

- Students reflected on the life of Colonel Dryden
and the Tuskegee Airmen during the 1940s and
50s. - They wrote letters of encouragement to him as if
they lived at that time. - Some students read letters to Colonel Dryden at
the Symposium.
