During the third quarter of 2008, CTECU continued
to safely invest and protect your financial
wealth as everyone tries to cope with the
financial havoc that is occurring on Wall Street.
It is amazing what the banks and other financial
organizations have wrought with their greed. On a
more personal note, we hope that all of our
member/owners and their families are well after
experiencing the wrath of Hurricane Ike. The
power outages and the debris were truly
spectacular in their scope. I would like to
congratulate the CTECU employees who worked
diligently to quickly restore the various
branches to an operational status so that you,
our member/owners, would have access to your
funds, if needed, during this trying time. The
Bellaire branch was without power the longest and
gained power by Thursday, September 25, 2008 at
the Rice Avenue end of the Bellaire Complex where
the BTF Buildings are located. CTECU continues
to serve each of you, our member/owners, to the
best of our ability. We will not compromise that
trust. With our current dividend rates, CTECU
recommends that you invest in the higher paying
CDs that are currently available. Please note

NOTE On October 3, 2008, President George W.
Bush signed the Emergency Economic Stabilization
Act of 2008, which temporarily raises the basic
limit on federal deposit insurance coverage from
100,000 to 250,000 per depositor. The temporary
increase in deposit insurance coverage became
effective immediately upon the Presidents
signature. The legislation provides that the
basic deposit insurance limit will return to
100,000 on December 31, 2009.
