Mazellan visited in 1521. Originally Philippines
was a Islamic country but Christianity became
prominent through the anti-Islamic policy of
colonial government. It also colonized by USA in
1898 since USA defeated Spain and got an
agreement from Spain. After that, Japan ruled
this country from 1942 to 1945.

between Tarfaya and Villa Cisneros this
territory. Will later be known as the Western
Sahara. Then in 1906, a war started between the
Saharawis people and the Spanish and Trojan war

8HISTORY OF SPAIN
- By the 19th century, Spain has lost nearly all
its major possessions. The result of the
Spanish-American war in 1898 made Spain weak
because the U.S had defeated them. Spain was
accepted as a member of the United Nations in
1955. It became a major tourist area in the
1960s. Following the defeat of France and the
restoration of King Ferdinand, the constitution
was set aside. In 1820, a new constitution was
placed before the Cortes.
