  the need for reconstruction
• 2. Technical assessment for project preparation

Expected Results and Achievements

• Improved water quality in water ecosystems which
  receive effluents in Moldovas part of river Prut
• Reconstruction of existing waste water treatment
  plants, introduction of new water treatment
  technologies
• Strengthening of institutional capacities of
  local governments by their involvement in waste
  water management process
• Decreased risks of diseases

Expected Results and Achievements

• BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) from waste water
  treatment facilities will decrease by 30,
  nitrogen and phosphorus loads will also decrease
  (by 40 and 20)
• Reconstruction of six waste water treatment
  plants in towns Edinets, Flaesht, Ungen, Leova,
  Kantemir and Kahul
• Involvement of 300 water and environmental
  sector managers in project implementation and
  capacity building
