• Why did we torch the Cheetos????

The torching of the Cheetos is a chemical
reaction, and chemical reactions are at the heart
of what were going to study this term. Chapter
6 Thermochemistry. How much heat is given off in
a reaction? How do we measure this? How do we
figure this out if we cant measure it? Chapter
16 Spontaneity, Entropy, and Free Energy. Why
do the Cheetos burst into lots o flames? How
could we predict they would burst into flames?
Can we use the energy of the flames to do work
and if so, how much? Chapter 17
Electrochemistry. How can we harness the energy
in chemical bonds to give electrical energy
(which we then use to do work)? Chapter 12
Chemical Kinetics. How fast did the reaction of
the Cheetos take place and how do we
describe/determine this? Why do we care how long
it took? How do we use this to our advantage?
