What is it?

• A structured approach to reading
• Involves writing questions
• Helps you remember the fundamentals
• Helps you isolate whats most important
• Teaches basic analytical thinking

Level 1

• Basic factual questions who, what, where, when
• Clear-cut, no ambiguity
• No guessing needed
• Explicit in the text
• Forms backbone of passage

Level 2

• Answers are implicit in the text
• Read between the lines questions
• How and Why questions
• Involves rudimentary analysis
• Establishes connections between level 1 facts

Level 3

• Answer not in text at all
• Must be created through analysis of level 1 and 2
  concepts
• Based on evaluation and judgment
• Open-ended, designed to evoke discussion
• Out of the box
