History
  • The 77-acre Mid- South Youth Camp is located ¼
    mile west of Highway 45 south, about three miles
    north of Henderson, Tenn. The campgrounds
    include all the amenities for a comfortable stay
    13 air-conditioned cabins, four bathhouses, an
    air-conditioned dining hall, 10 small shelters
    and a large pavilion.

Additional Facilities
  • The camp is also designed for a variety of
    activities, with two swimming pools, tennis
    court, a five-acre lake for boating and fishing,
    and plenty of outdoor space for hiking and group
    games.
  • New to the camp in summer 2006 will be the
    multi-station ropes course, where campers 12-18
    will enjoy a variety of activities while building
    team and leadership skills.

Cost
  • The cost of attending the camp is 145 each week,
    including secondary coverage insurance up to
    3,500. A nonrefundable 50 deposit for each
    weeks reservation should accompany the
    application. Campers who pay for a full week in
    advance can go directly to their cabins upon
    arrival. A posted list will direct the campers
    to the correct cabin.
  • Campers should bring additional money for crafts
    and the canteen. About 200 campers per week will
    be accepted on a first-come, first serve basis.

  • Day campers may enroll for 35 per day. This fee
    covers meals, planned activities and insurance.
  • Junior counselors and workers pay only 120 per
    week and must have written permission from their
    parents before they will be permitted t leave
    camp for the counselors break each day.
  • Pre-camp is new for this year. Children ages 6-8
    may come and enjoy camp with there own group.

Suggested Activities
  • Recreational and developmental activities
    include, swimming, hiking, games, crafts, a
    talent contest, volleyball, soccer, tetherball,
    tennis and more.
  • In addition, there will be daily Bible classes, a
    chapel service, a singing class, mission lectures
    and evening devotionals. On Wednesday evening,
    campers will dress up for a trip to
    Freed-Hardeman University, where they will enjoy
    a delicious meal, a tour of campus and a talent
    show.

Camp Supervision
  • An excellent corps of teachers and counselors
    will work under my direction. The staff will
    also include lifeguards, music and athletic
    directors, Bible teachers, a certified athletic
    trainer and other necessary personnel to provide
    safe, healthful conditions and worthwhile
    activities. A nurse will be on call at all times.

What to Bring..
  • Each camper should bring a Bible, sheets,
    blanket, pillow, towels, toilet articles,
    swimsuit and flashlight. All clothes, including
    shorts, must be knee length. All clothing must
    be of modest appearance.
  • Do not bring cell phones, walkie talkies, guns,
    tape or CD players, knives, fireworks or tobacco.
    Any of these items will be confiscated. Smoking
    is not allowed on the campgrounds at any time.
    We ask visitors also to observe this rule.

When can I come and how much does it cost?
  • The Ropes Course and Retreat Center is available
    from mid August to May.
  • You will be able to use all the facilities
    offered at MSYC, except for the swimming pools.
  • Kitchen facilities are limited, but MSYC offers a
    catering service from Aramark Foods located on
    the campus of Freed-Hardeman University.

  • Cost to attend Lion Adventure and Retreat Center
    is based on the number of individuals attending.
    Minimum age for the ropes course is 12 years.
    All individuals using the ropes course must sign

  • Following each of the low- and high-ropes-course
    challenges, positive and negative group behaviors
    are analyzed and discussed. Reflection and
    application are central to the team learning
    process.
  • The Lion Adventure may be tailored to a variety
    of ages and group types, from youth groups to
    athletic teams to corporate leaders. The 12
    expert Lion Adventure facilitators have
    professional backgrounds in a variety of fields,
    including communication, psychology, education,
    team management and leadership, and athletics.
  • Each of the challenging course activities is
    carefully designed and implemented with safety
    first.
