Title: Exploring the Seasons

1
Exploring the Seasons
  • By Conrad Budzynski
  • Grades 1st - 3rd

2
As we all know living in Michigan, seasons change.
  • But why do they change?
  • Why does it snow in the winter?
  • Why do flowers grow in the spring?
  • What makes summer so hot?
  • Why do trees lose their leafs?
  • These are all questions we will be answering in
    this presentation.

3
Some other things you might learn
  • Like why it was snowing at home while it was warm
when you went to Florida for vacation?
  • And what is global warming?

4
Winter
  • Winter is the season of snow.
  • Temperatures are usually below 5 degrees
centigrade and can reach as low as -89 degrees in
    certain parts of the world.

5
Winter (Continued)
  • Snow forms when the atmospheres temperature is
cold enough to freeze the water molecules in
clouds. The moisture becomes to heavy for clouds
to hold and snow falls to the ground.

6
Spring
  • As the saying goes, April showers bring May
flowers. This is only somewhat true though.
  • Rain helps plants grow because they need water
but it is not the rain that makes the flowers
    grow.
  • It is Spring that does that.
  • Plants follow a life cycle of growing just like
we do, as we grow up our bodies change and so do
plants. Plants grow flowers and they bloom to
allow pollen to spread and make new plants.

7
Summer
  • Why is it so hot in the summer?
  • The suns rays are hitting our part of the earth
directly, as shown in this picture to the right.

8
Fall
  • Trees lose their leaves.
  • This helps the trees survive the winter.
  • Leaves need a lot of water and nutrients to stay
healthy and by losing them during the winter
trees dont have to waste any energy maintaining
    them.
