Funny features occur in stratosphere At 2.5S
102.5E (near Singapore) Very large differences
between the 6 hour forecast and analysis are
seen, Even in the monthly mean. Files used are
valid at 000 GMT (6hr forecast Verifies at 000
GMT) and are 2.5 deg.

average values of the analysis minus guess tend
to be about 2/3 of the ob minus guess averages.
The increments for different sites are very
similar, suggesting that the problem may be with
the guess. Since the data agree with each other
well, the analysis changes are fairly large,
there may be a problem with the model at these
levels in the deep tropics. Xiu Juan Su
diagnostic files from March 16 to 22 couple of
stations 48698 and 48650, occasionally 48657,
contribute large increments.. also some large o-b
Differences occur at 35-50 mb at these
stations..some observations change dramatically
at close levels. I dont know whether they are
real or measurement errors.
