2H2O OLYMPICS
From Project Wet, this activity allows students
to have their own Water Olympics. There are five
events in the Olympics, each demonstrating
cohesive and adhesive properties of water.
Materials for all events are in this kit and are
marked and packaged according to event. Following
are activity instructions. The instructions are
also included in the foil pans with all
materials. Appropriate for Grades 4 up.
3Planet Toss
With this activity, students will develop the
concept of the actual distribution of water on
this planet and will recognize groundwater as the
most available source of fresh water. To add to
the activity, each time a student catches the
planet, have them tell something they know
about water. Activity instructions are following
and are also in the baggie with all materials for
the activity. Appropriate for all ages.
4Its All Relative
Students will develop the concept of the
distribution of water on this planet. This
activity is very graphic as to how much water is
in oceans, groundwater, glaciers, lakes, rivers
and in the atmosphere. Math skills are also
used. Instructions are following and are also in
the baggie Its All Relative along with all
materials needed. Appropriate for Grades 4 and up.
5Water Jeopardy
This game is a take-off of the TV game show
Jeopardy and is fun for all ages. Included are
the game board (a laminated poster) and the
instructions and answer sheets in the packet
Water Jeopardy. Appropriate for Grades 4 and up.
6Bottle Hydrology Model
Made from plastic bottles, this model shows how
soil erosion from rainfall occurs and the
resulting sediment that enters surface waters.
It also shows how crop residues protect the soil
from erosion and reduces water pollution from
sedimentation. Instructions and background
materials follow this page. Appropriate for all
grade levels.
