Purpose of Diagnostic Testing

• To give students an opportunity to understand the
  types of questions they will encounter during
  spring graduation testing
• To identify skills or knowledge where individual
  students might need further instruction to be
  successful on the test
• Provide parents with information about how they
  can help their child prepare for spring testing
• To help Allatoona High School identify and plan
  for students who might need extra academic
  support in English/Language Arts or Math prior to
  spring testing

Diagnostic Testing Details

• Tests in Math and ELA were designed by Cobb
  Curriculum Supervisors
• Administered to 11th graders in September and
  October of 2008
• Testing experience was similar to what students
  will have next spring

Our Plan

• Communicate diagnostic results with our students
  and parents.
• Provide classroom instruction that will target
  GHSGT preparation strategies these will include
  examination of questions in the test format, and
  integration of questions that follow the test
  format in classroom tests.
• Provide students with the resources to use USA
  Test Prep.
• Provide before school or after school tutoring.
• Provide students with two additional practice
  assessments prior to the GHSGT that simulate the
  test setting.
