NGOP - Data Center Operations

• NGOP will be utilized as the primary tool for
  production systems error detection and support
  staff notification.
• Support staff notification will be done through
  Remedy HelpDesk system and TelALert.
• NGOP detects condition.
• NGOP creates a Remedy ticket via Remedy API
• Remedy workflow determines who should be notified
  and issues appropriate notification, e.g. a page
  to that support person.
• NGOP server monitoring will be necessary. This
  would ultimately require a person checking a
  status screen, e.g.
• Beyond simple agents that test network
  connectivity, some important web servers such as
  www.fnal.gov , www.fnal.gov/cd and
  www-csd.fnal.gov need to be monitored for
  functioning web services.

• Key Windows servers need to be monitored.
• Network monitoring not currently being
  addressed. Should it be done within NGOP or
  through a different product?
• Overall success will depend on having complete
  participation of support groups in defining
  monitoring configurations for production systems
  and informing NGOP of status changes, e.g.
• System has been fixed
• System is scheduled down
• Datacenter automation will require a functional
  and well running monitoring system like NGOP.
