Teacher Notes
  • Complete the first two steps of the process as a
whole-group activity to develop an understanding
of the students background knowledge of money.
This will also help you determine the students
who may need a partner or which students might
work well together based on their understanding
    of money.
  • Additional activities may be completed with the
book Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday
    by Judith Viorst
  • Some suggestions might be
  • Create a group of items available for the
students to rent. Give each student a dollar
and have the students count out the money to the
teacher or a fellow student for the rented
item. Next, have the students count the
remaining money. Students may wish to rent
another item or save their remaining money.
  • Have students act out the book by letting them
    spend Alexanders money
  • Help your students with accessing the Money
Masters Challenge learning activity with these
    notes.
  • Make sure when searching for the article, money
signs () are used for the first letters of each
word to ensure you are retrieving the correct
    article.
  • To type a dollar sign () hold down your Shift
key and type the number 4
