The Problem No Current Safe and Practical
solution for EMS transportation of infants and
large children
  • Belt-in infant and child seats
  • Lack of storage on emergency vehicles
  • May not be crash tested in rear facing position
    for most ambulance applications
  • Time consuming to secure with high failure rate
    in emergency scenarios
  • Requires extensive initial and ongoing training
  • May take gurney out of service for critical
    patient use
  • Existing Integrated attendant seats
  • Toddler seat only, limited to children 20-50
    pounds
  • Requires a separate infant seat and large child
booster seat to be carried with all the
    limitations listed above
  • Transport agencies may currently
  • Carry the infant/child unrestrained in either
    the parents or attendants arms
  • Delay transport until another transport vehicle
    with the necessary seats arrive
  • Delay transport until a relative or CPS
personnel arrive to take the infant or child

4
Design Goals
  • Must safely restrain infants from newborn to
    large child
  • Must be tested and safe for all ages in the rear
    facing position
  • Must be quick and easy to use in an emergency
    setting
  • Must fit in the existing seat and require no
    external storage
  • Must be safe and comfortable for daily use by
    attendants
  • Must be durable and exceed blood born pathogen
    standards

Safety Engineering
  • Extensive product testing at the Center for
    Advanced Product Evaluation (CAPE)
    including all applicable FMVSS standards.
  • Adult and child seats have been tested both
    forward and rear facing.
  • Infant and child seats have been dynamically
tested and exceeded all standards for velocity
and pulse specified in FMVSS 213.
  • Only attendant seat successfully tested up to an
85 pound 10 year old ATD both forward and rear
    facing.

Child Safety Features
  • The ONLY Truly Seamless technology prevents
all fluid absorption and contains an
Antimicrobial agent in the skin to inhibit
bacterial growth from any fluids and blood born
    pathogens.
  • A soft cushioned removable headrest allows
children of all sizes to remain in a comfortable
and safe position at all times

9
Infant Safety Features
  • Seat bottom cushion is safely stored within fixed
    holster during transport.
  • Interlock Safety Bar requires the seat to be
locked in aft position in order to deploy infant
cradle and does not allow the seat to swivel when
    deployed.
  • Infant cradle always locks at a 45 degree angle
    in its fully deployed position.
  • Safeguard retractable shoulder adjustment
system adjusts to securely fit newborns and
    infants, 5 to 22lbs
  • An Absorbent/Waterproof disposable padded insert
allows for easy clean up and set up.
  • Cradle is made with an antimicrobial imbedded in
plastic to inhibit bacteria growth from blood
    born pathogens.
