A general idea about the course

• The students will study core investigative
  techniques used during crime scene investigations
  through hands-on learning settings.
• Lab activities will be the primary focus of the
  class.
• Real Investigative procedures!!

Grading

• Homework/classwork
• Presentations (group)
• Labs (timeliness, completion and accuracy) major
  part of the grade!!!
• Crime Scene Project (creation, investigation,
  and analysis)
• Occasional quizzes (if and when necessary)
• will be part of the final exam grade

Supplies

• Binder with pockets and dividers
• Pen and pencil
• Closed-toed lab shoes
• Lab clothes
• Supplies necessary for crime scene project at end
  of semester

Homework

• There will be homework on and off throughout the
  semester (infrequent)
• Late homework will not be accepted!

Lab Policies

• Labs will be carried out either individually or
  with lab partner depending upon the activity.
• Labs will be evaluated or assessed based upon
  timeliness, completion and accuracy.
• Depending upon the lab, labs may be handed in for
  a group or individual grade.
• Late policy- 50 credit for turning in a lab the
  day after it is due.

Crime Scene Project!!

• For approximately the last 4-5 weeks of the
  semester the class will be working in groups to
  set up, investigate and analyze a crime scene.
• Each group will set up their crime scene
  somewhere in school.
• The students will then work in groups to
  investigate each others crime scenes
• Grading- based on analysis of evidence in the
  form of a portfolio.
• Final Exam- Case/Investigation will be presented
  to the class with PowerPoint.

• To get the students excited about science!
• For the students to understand that forensic
  scientists use and apply all the sciences when
  investigating crimes!
• For students to strengthen their own problem
  solving skills!
