Title: Drivers Education

1
Drivers Education
  • Kayla Craddick
  • Lubbock, TX.

2
Purpose
  • The purpose of drivers education is to teach an
individual to become a defensive driver. To
inform and educate the student on laws, skills,
and prepare them for the test for their license.

3
My Experience
  • Was fun
  • Passed the test with an 85
  • Took it through my High school
  • Didnt have to do all my required driving time
  • Didnt have my permit right at the beginning of
my driving time but still drove.
  • Learned more about my the teacher than about the
    material

4
Was it Effective?
  • Yes
  • I passed the test
  • Havent got in a wreck
  • Havent gotten a ticket
  • Have used several things I learned from the
    course.
  • If you pay attention you will have a better
understanding of things you didnt have before.
  • It was hands on during driving and personally
    found it more effective.
  • No
  • Had to learn through experience.
  • Had to learn basic things later on that I should
    have been taught.
  • Some areas were covered quickly or assumed that
    they were already known.
  • I learned more about my instructor and his funny
stories then being educated some days.

5
How could drivers education be more effective?
  • More driving time required with parents and or
    instructor.
  • Let the parents know if their child is having
trouble in certain areas so the parents could
    work with them personally.
  • Touch on issues that are related to driving, such
as, road rage, over correcting, how to deal with
the weather, giving a better understanding or all
    areas of defensive driving.
  • Tested on actual situations
  • Must pass with higher scores
  • Age raised to be able to get your license.
  • Make it clear that driving is a privilege and
    can easily be taken away.
  • Make the instructors more accountable.
  • Show videos and tell real life stories from other
teens. You might have a better chance of the
students listening to their peers. Use other
    resources.
  • Certain amount of time driving with a guardian.
