The True Lamb

• Our Lord Jesus Christ is the True Passover Lamb
  that was offered for our sins
• Age
• The animals you choose must be year-old males
  without defect, and you may take them from the
  sheep or the goats. (Exodus 125)
• Spotless, blameless

The Lamb of God

• St. Peter says in his 1st letter, knowing that
  you were not redeemed with corruptible things,
  like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct
  received by tradition from your fathers, but with
  the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb
  without blemish and without spot. He indeed was
  foreordained before the foundation of the world

Prophecies

• Isaiah 537 says, "He was oppressed and
  afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth he was
  led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep
  before her shearers is silent, so he did not open
  his mouth.
• The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him,
  and said, Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away
  the sin of the world!

Fullfilling the prophecy

• On Sunday before the Passover, Jesus entered
  Jerusalem and in doing so He fulfilled the
  prophecy from Zechariah, which describes a
  triumphant King who comes to Zion riding on a
  colt. (Zechariah 119)

Passover

• "And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the
  twelve apostles with him. And he said unto them,
  With desire I have desired to eat this Passover
  with you before I suffer For I say unto you, I
  will not any more eat thereof, until it be
  fulfilled in the kingdom of God." Luke 2214-16.

Prophecies

• Isaiah 506 says, I gave My back to those who
  struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out
  the beard I did not hide My face from shame and
  spitting.
• Isaiah 533 says, "He was despised and rejected
  by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with
  suffering. Like one from whom men hide their
  faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not."

Judas Ischariot

• Sicarius can refer to
• The Latin word for dagger
• Sicarius may also mean Male Assassin.
• The Sicarii, a group of Jews who attempted to
  expel the Romans from Judea
• Judas used the money to buy a field

30 coins of silver

• One Bible commentary says that 30 pieces of
  silver was the equivalent of 120 denarii. A
  denarius was the wage a worker was paid for a
  day's work (Matthew 202) So Judas was given the
  equivalent of three months pay. In Zechariah
  1112-13 thirty pieces of silver is referred to
  as a paltry amount of money compared to anything
  of real value

His Visage

• The prophet Isaiah prophesies how Jesus appeared
  after the scourging "Just as many were
  astonished at you, so His visage was marred more
  than any man, and His form more than the sons of
  men" Isaiah 5214. St. Paul writes in
  Philippians 28, "And being found in appearance
  as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient
  to the point of death, even the death of the
  cross

• My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are
  You so far from helping Me, And from the words of
  My groaning?
• All those who see Me ridicule Me They shoot out
  the lip, they shake the head, saying He trusted
  in the LORD, let Him rescue Him Let Him deliver
  Him, since He delights in Him!

• Many bulls have surrounded Me         Strong
  bulls of Bashan have encircled Me. They gape at
  Me with their mouths, Like a raging and roaring
  lion.  I am poured out like water, And all My
  bones are out of joint  My heart is like wax It
  has melted within Me. 15 My strength is dried up
  like a potsherd,         And My tongue clings to
  My jaws          You have brought Me to the
  dust of death.

  congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.
           They pierced My hands and My feet 17
  I can count all My bones.         They look and
  stare at Me. 18 They divide My garments among
  them,         And for My clothing they cast lots.
