IRRB Objectives

• IRRB is a place for railway companies to freely
  exchange their views on R D
• IRRB is a place for members to discuss
• the core concepts of railway companies
• the direction in which railway technology should
  head
• IRRB is a place to discuss the basic philosophy
  of railway business
• IRRB is a place that facilitates collaborative
  research on a global scale

Objectives

• The primary objective of the IRRB is to
  concentrate on essential areas of rail
  transportation by organising international
  exchange forums and facilitating collaborative
  research based on critical issues for railways
  around the world.

The IRRB is to

• Establish and promote a vehicle and processes for
  identification and ranking of critically
  important issues for railways.
• Establish a conduit for shared information on
  railway research programs ongoing at the
  participating organisations.
• Facilitate and maintain open lines of
  communication among the participants
  researchers, other advisers and the IRRB.

The IRRB is to

• Develop a process for collaboration on research
  at participating organisations.
• Oversight the effectiveness and efficiency of the
  collaborative research activities.
• Establish pathways for the Parties to access
  research funding in a collaborative manner.

The Charter must include an Exit Clause for
participants

What next?

• Agree on the concept of the IRRB Charter.
• UIC secretariat to receive comments and changes
  to the text 30 Days.
• UIC secretariat obtains sign-off on the agreement
  by
• 31 January 2007.
