  • in yesterdays "extended PAF" meeting (Aymar,
    Garoby, Schmickler, Rossi, Evans, Bruning, )
    there was support from the top down, including
    Lyn, for Lucio's proposal for the U.S. to build 5
    Nb3Sn Q1 quads (includes 1 spare) for the Phase 1
    upgrade.

QA concept
  • Install Nb3Sn quad in an accelerator (e.g.,
    Tevatron, RHIC, LHC) or beamline to judge
    performance in real world situation (lifetime
    test, radiation heating, radiation damage)

    cold mass, CERN the cryostat
