2Aims and Objectives
- To develop a methodology to assess the potential
impact of sea level rise on coastal habitats. - To examine adaptation to sea level rise for
coastal habitats. - To apply this methodology at 6 case study sites
in the south of England. - To extend the methodology to Cell 5 and examine
mitigation sites. - To provide guidance for coastal managers
3Components of Sea-Level Change
- Global-mean change
- Ice balance/average thermal expansion,
- Ocean basin change
- Pattern of sea-level change due to thermal
expansion, changing ocean circulation, mean wind
fields, etc. - Geological change
- Various components such glacial isostatic
adjustment (GIA), tectonics, human-induced
subsidence

23CASI
Compact Airborne Spectrographic Imager used to
image large number of spectral wavebands to
create maps of intertidal vegetation. Accuracy
for individual species varies between 25 and
80. This accuracy increases to over 80 for
groups of similar species.
