Title: Benefits of using the Oregon Vineyard Database OVID
1Benefits of using the Oregon Vineyard Database
(OVID)
2What is OVID?
The Oregon Vineyard Database (OVID), is an online
service, developed by and for the Oregon vineyard
industry, to provide better communications,
information, and tools for wise management of
Oregon's vineyards. OVID is now a free tool
provided to the entire Oregon vineyard
industry. This online service is funded by fees
from charter members, and by grants from the
Oregon Wine Board and the USDA Risk Management
Agency via the Washington Wine Industry
Foundation.
3How can OVID help you?
- Whether you are a vineyard owner, winemaker, or
management service, OVID will help you keep track
of whats happening in your vineyard, and help
you work with others to produce the highest
quality fruit and wine in every vineyard block.
As an OVID user, the tool becomes your place
to - Keep robust vineyard management records
- Create ODA pesticide use reports
- Make management decisions with your vineyard
team - Share data with selected colleagues and
- Communicate with other industry professionals.
4Keep Robust Vineyard Management Records
OVID allows you to create or review records of
management observations and activities for each
vineyard block, including canopy and crop
management, spray and water management, nutrition
and soil management, and more. Management
activities are recorded and reviewed using simple
online forms.
5Create ODA Pesticide Use Reports
By completing the Spray Events section of OVID,
you have all the data needed to easily file the
required pesticide usage report with the ODA.
The process is as simple as generating the
report on OVID, and uploading it onto the ODA
website.
6Make Management Decisions with your Vineyard Team
By using OVID, owners, winemakers, and other
partners can keep track of whats happening in
each vineyard block, and work together to make
better management decisions as each growing
season progresses.
7Share Data with Selected Colleagues
By using OVIDs Vineyard Search function you can
identify other vineyards with similar sites,
soils, or vines, find useful experience, and work
with colleagues to identify practices that will
might increase quality, reduce costs, or improve
sustainability on your site. Note data is only
shared with authorization from the data owner.
8Communicate with Other Industry Professionals
Use OVIDs Industry Forum to discuss the current
season, vineyard activities, regional issues,
legislative concerns, and best management
practices for the current year.
9Join OVID Today!
There is no cost to join. Self registration will
